CAPS provides limited individual therapy (6 to 8 sessions per semester).
Each session ranges between 45 to 50 minutes.
Therapy is provided for a varied of problems that the student may be facing including depression, anxiety, social phobia, relationship problems, bereavement, adjustment issues, stress management, time management, familiar issues, general discomfort for life experiences.
Out team includes profession psychologist as well as in-training psychologist who employ different approaches that they are trained in to help the students. For more details about their profiles, you can visit our team page of the website.
Appointments
For scheduling an appointment on behalf of a student you can email or call the above-mentioned contacts. We provide emergency same day appointments as well. In case of urgent appointment please explain the emergency while writing the email or during call so that the time sensitive matters can be addressed properly.
After- hours Services
Currently after-hours services are not provided in house but after careful study a document containing a list of external resources and helplines is created. Please email at student.counselling@lums.edu.pk requesting the list in case of need.
Workshops
CAPS also offers Psychological first aid workshop for staff as well as faculty. Incase you are interested to know how to help your students better or learn to deal with distressed students please email letting us know of your interest. These workshops are conducted quarterly and you would be reached out for the next workshop.
Confidentiality Policy
We are extremely careful about protecting the confidentiality of our students as well as their records. Our records are only available to limited member of CAPS team. Incase you are looking for data pertaining to a student of yours, please request the student to fill out a release of information form. Without the written consent of a student no information about their mental health is released.
Information pertaining to visits to CAPS (verifying whether a student has seen a counselor or not), their diagnosis, prognosis or presenting problems will not be shared with any university official, faculty member, family, roommate or friends except in only very specific circumstance. Those are limited to imminent instances of self or other harm. However CAPS is available to discuss with you any general term concerns that you may have.
