Outreach & Community Engagement

Outreach & Community Engagement

Our aim

Our aim is to reach our 6000 university students. With this we hope to change the narrative regarding mental health and promote healthy emotional health and well-being.

What is outreach?

Our definition of outreach is spreading information and awareness regarding mental health to the entire student body and community at LUMS; and eradicating the stigma around mental health.

Who do we reach through outreach?

Our outreach efforts are designed to connect with students who may not typically opt for therapy but could benefit from guidance, resources, or peer connections. This includes students who:

  • Want to learn more about mental health.
  • Wish to support a friend or loved one.
  • May feel burdened by stigma or uncertainty about seeking help.
  • Could benefit from general support, even if they do not require therapy.

Outreach in Action

We organize a variety of mental health awareness events and activities in collaboration with campus partners to foster a culture of openness and support. These include:

Mental Health Awareness Week
A week-long series of activities beginning with ice-breaking sessions on the first day. Throughout the week, open-air stalls are set up across campus where students can learn about CAPS services. Each stall features an interactive activity designed to encourage engagement and open conversations around mental health.

Art-Based Therapy Sessions
Opportunities for creative expression that support stress relief and self-discovery.

Drum Jam Sessions
Highly popular, interactive experiences that bring students together to de-stress and recharge.

Support Groups
Safe spaces for students to share experiences and connect with peers.

Group Therapy
Structured sessions led by professional therapists where students facing similar challenges come together to share, reflect, and learn coping strategies in a supportive and guided environment.

Orientation Week Activities
School-wise orientations that introduce new students to CAPS services and mental health resources.

Through these initiatives, we aim to create an inclusive and supportive campus culture, where every student has access to resources that nurture their mental health and emotional growth.
